THE PROCESS

Its manufacture is a process that requires extreme skill from the artisan before the advent of the textile machine.

Velvet appeared in India in the Middle Ages (approximately 11th century), began to be produced in Italy in the 12th century (Venice, Genoa, Luca, Florence). Genoa velvet could have two heights of piles getting high and very soft, very durable; that’s why Italian velvet has become so famous to this day.

From the 17th century onwards, France also started to produce velvet, which is a material that fits perfectly with all the luxury and profusion of the Baroque, when presented in highly decorated motifs, with medallions and reliefs.

In the nineteenth century, velvets were widely used in curtains, table covers, upholstery, and made the environments even more austere.

Requiring its sophisticated appearance, it has always been a luxury item of families belonging to the wealthy classes, who, together with the ostentation of jewels and the exaggeration of the medallions worn by the lords, also displayed wealth through the clothes and coverings of the houses. velvets, along with silks and brocades.

With a natural or synthetic base, it can be made in rayon, cotton, acetate, nylon, wool scraps, and fiber mixtures, among others.

Known in Europe since the Middle Ages, velvet has a narrow weave, which produces a soft-touch texture. In the 19th century, it was sometimes made of silk, normally used to produce dresses and coats, while in the 20th century it was often used for party clothes.

Plain Velvet – Plain Colors

It is a smooth 100% cotton velvet that completes the velvet collection. The vertical orientation makes it soft to the touch and gives it an elegant and refined appearance, of Italian origin, this type of velvet gives a noble and refined touch to the Sofa.

Viscose Velvet – Sanderson

Viscose is an artificial cellulose fiber, made from wood chips from low-resin trees or from cottonseed linter. A cellulosic paste is formed which, by extrusion in spinnerets and with the contact of other solutions, the fiber is made. In 1905 Courtauld’s began producing viscose rayon.

Sanderson’s Sumptuous Viscose Velvet, Icaria, with a subtle tree bark pattern that creates a luxurious, textural quality that’s perfect for durable upholstery, and glamorous. THE BRASS

Brass is a type of metallic alloy perfect to be used in some parts, components, and other things.

Polished Brass Finish

To obtain the polished brass, it is a manual process of polishing, using special high brushes rotation and polishing paste that allows a first finish, removing scratches or slight imperfections superficial defects, or will serve to highlight major defects that must be corrected through the wear of the material (sandings).

It is a manual process of work and visual inspection. After that, the piece is ready to be polished (where it will gain the shine) through another polishing operation, but with another kind of more sensitive brush, also a high rotation and with the use of special polishing pastes.

Old Brass Finish

The finishes have these names because they convey an aged look to the piece. With the copper base, brass, or silver, they are indicated for pieces that need to highlight the high and low relief, or that need look old.

In the preparation of surfaces, physical, chemical, and electrolytic, or mixed methods are used to achieve the characteristics suitable for the success of superior treatments.

To give the brass a brushed appearance, a sanding operation is performed creating a pattern of very fine lines, vertically or horizontally. Many products are then sealed with a protective coating (varnish or lacquer) to avoid wear and tear. However, no finish lasts forever and eventually the brushed finish may be damaged, attention should be paid to the strength of the protective finish.

Characteristics and application of natural Ebony Macassar Veneer

For Example, the use of veneer of 100% natural wood, allows presentations of solutions of high aesthetic quality, with great economy of natural resources.

Handling done manually, with careful application of the sheet on a polished solid wood surface, so as not to lose the symmetry of the veins.

Gluing made with appropriate glue, after a properly cleaned surface, special glues should be applied to apply the natural sheet according to the intended design. Artisanal operation of careful application of the leaf, with the veins with the desired angle.

Given the fact that it is natural wood, from batch to batch there may be a difference in the shade of the wood, which requires the utmost attention in the selection of the sheet to be applied in the piece or in the set of pieces for a project.

Sanding operation is necessary in order to clean the decorative surface and wrinkle to allow a matte and shiny finish.

Choosing the option of finishing in high gloss, with a transparent polyester-based finish, it is used when it is desired to obtain the maximum body in the finishing process.

This process will allow to cover the pore in very open pore woods, it allows to highlight the details of the wood, in exotic woods (it works as a lens), it guarantees a good chemical and physical resistance and the maximum brightness.
